Oasis has talent!
The Oasis talent event was a great success and we had thirteen acts. We were really pleased to see the wide variety we had this year. Acts from dance groups, singers, musical instruments and even a comedian!The hall was packed with people supporting the event and the atmosphere was electric. The show started by Joan Gallagher doing a bed of nails routine assisted by young Dianna from the audience and Nik Mason the Oasis Marketing Manager who stood on Joan as she lay on thousands of tiny sharp nails. The Judges (John Elsworthy, Joan Gallagher and Graham Arthur), had a hard time picking the winner as the standard was so high. At the same time outside there was a Car Boot sale with many stalls selling lots of bargins. One of the tables there was run by our Age Concern group which raised £100 pounds which will go to their own charity members!The judges eventually came to a decision and decided on Megan Green who sang Amazing Grace solo with no music. She blew away the judges and audience with her clear sounding voice. In second came Toni Gathercole & Janine Godbehere who performed a professional Irish dance to a song from Riverdance. We had a joint third consisting of Charley Sandberg (this years Dance contest winner) & Hannah Clayton street dancing and a Comedy duo Caroline & Rusty who work at the Orchards school behind the Oasis Centre.We also wish to say thank you to Steve and Matt from the Angles Theatre who came down and produced a professional show with music and lighting.
And a big thank you to the rest of the Acts that came down we were so impressed with the standard as were our Judges.
